There are 6 types of fire extinguishers.
- Class A – Combustible Solids. This is items such as Wood, Paper, Textiles, Plastic, General Rubbish and Carbonaceous Materials.
- Class B – Flammable and Combustible Liquids. This is items such as Petrol, Diesel, Thinners, Paint and petroleum based Oils.
- Class C – Flammable Gases. This is items such as LPG, Natural Gas, Acetylene, Propane and Butane.
- Class D – Combustible Metals. This is items such as magnesium, potassium, sodium and alumina.
- Class E – Electrical Hazard. This class of Fire isn’t a fuel type rather it is a hazard which can injure or kill a person who is attempting to extinguisher the fire.
- Class F – Oils and Fat Fires. This is fats and oils which are vegetable or animal based such as vegetable oils and lards.
